01About ICAP

Every child deserves an adult who knows what to do.

Applied training in child and adolescent psychology, assessed courses, and professional certificates anyone can verify.

A practitioner working alongside a child at a table

Knowledge that makes a difference.

02Why we exist

To close the distance between what the research says and what happens in the room with a child.

ICAP brings practitioners, clinicians and educators together across different settings — the same courses, the same marking, the same certificate.

Courses are written and taught by people who see children and adolescents in practice, and every one ends in an assessment rather than a certificate of attendance.

03How it works

What a certificate from here means.

A certificate is only worth what the process behind it is worth. Three things hold that up, and all three are built into the platform rather than promised on a page.
  1. 01

    Assessed, not attended

Quizzes are graded and assignments are read by a person. Sitting through the videos does not earn the certificate. Passing the assessment does.

  2. 02

    Verifiable by anyone

Every certificate carries a number an employer, a regulator or a parent can check on this site without an account — and which shows plainly if it has been withdrawn.

  3. 03

Tied to what you can deliver

Where a course is tied to a service, passing it is what permits a CIPPO practitioner to deliver that service. The credential is not decorative.

Certification

Pathways that progress with you

Courses group into pathways, so a practitioner can see what they are working towards rather than collecting unrelated certificates.

05CPD

What CPD means.

The CPD Certification Service

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. It is the learning you keep doing after you qualify, so your work with children keeps up with what is now known about how they grow and learn.

Our courses that carry CPD points are accredited by The CPD Certification Service, an independent UK body that has been reviewing training since 1996. Before it accredits a course, it checks what the course teaches, how it is put together and how learners are assessed.

One CPD point stands for about an hour of learning. You will find the points on the course page before you enrol, and printed on your certificate when you pass, ready to add to your CPD record.

Many professional bodies ask their members to log a set number of CPD hours each year. If you need the points for a particular licence or registration, check with that body that it accepts them. That decision is theirs, not ours.
